Was ist TCollection? Und wofür wird es in den Indy gebrauch?

Hallo!
Hier nochmal meine Frage:
Was ist TCollection und wofür wird es in den Indys gebraucht?

Bsp:
TIdIRCUsers = class(TCollection)
TIdIRCChannels = class(TCollection)

Wäre gut wenn das einigermaßen ausführlich erklärt wird, doof wie ich bin... ;)
