Wo Infos um eine mp3 selbst abzuspielen?

Hallo,

weiss jemand wo man Informationen zum MP3 Format bekommen kann? Es muss doch möglich sein die mp3 Dateien auch ohne eine Komponente abspielen zu können?! Die Komponenten schaffen es ja auch irgendwie? Hat jemand evtl. ein paar gute Links oder Infos dazu?
