TThread existiert auch unter Firemonkey (denke ich, ich habe bisher nur mit der Demo gespielt).
TThread ist ja Teil der
RTL und dafür heißt es in der Doku:

Allerdings findet man wenig dazu, wo da die "most cases" aufhören.
