Yes, ScanSnap should be the most reliable, fastest and best document scanner for massive scans.
I remember well a few years ago, when I proposed such (expensive) devices to a customer, he bought three of them, and we have to face the reality that Fujitsu was not able to support any interface (TWAIN, or any other)

Maybe they are back to professional business again, but I still feel not well with them.
In that respect I have been bitten by many hardware software combinations. On the scanner side these include OKI, Kyocera and HP.
It is the main reason I buy hardware at shops I can return it if my intended use-case does not appear to work.
