Er traut sich nicht die Festplatte auszubauen (ist ein Laptop), gibt es denn keine andere Möglichkeit? Ach ja, ich habe eben noch einmal mit ihm gesprochen: Es war tatsächlich ein Bootable-Medium mit Knoppix drauf und das CD-Laufwerk ist auch als primäres Bootmedium im BIOS angegeben.
