Ist jetzt keine direkte (hilfreiche) Antwort, aber hast du mal testweise probiert ob es mit TRESTClient funktioniert?
Mit dem kannst du fast nix verkehrt machen.
Edit: Okay das hat sich erledigt, wenn du tatsächlich noch mit Delphi 7 entwickelst.
